The Deer Park held their first Two Phase Horse Trials on 8 May 2005.
It proved to be such a success that Brian and Norman have decided that all future events will be set to this format (show jumping plus cross-country).
The weather conditions were excellent and the going was perfect. There were a fantastic number of entries, even though it was on the same weekend as Badminton.
The fence judges and stewards did a fantastic job in ensuring the day went smoothly, and Anne Payne and her husband donated some wonderful prizes.
The standard of competitors were second to none.
A new talent was found in Norman Babbage, and it will only be a matter of time before Channel 4 will be offering him a job as commentator. Any events organisers looking to increase their attendances; "storming Norman" is your man in the commentary box.
